Make sure your throttle is returning to full stop at the throttle bodies and well. If not, this extra air coming in will overpower what the IAC can pull back, so the idle will be too high. Ron WebFeb 20, 2024 · Initial RPMs are fine and once the RPMs are at the final resting place it is fine. It is somewhere in the middle it seems a bit rough. When just driving around town there is never any issue with idle or driving. I only notice this during cold starts. No check engine lights Anything to look for?

WebWhen it’s properly cold (-20C) it’ll sit there at 2000 rpm for probably 5 minutes. The high idle on cold start is to get the cat heated up quickly for emissions. Check the oil cold, most dealers overfill a bit cause a WRX will burn ~quart over 6k miles. Cold starts always will rev high until it warms up, gets worse as it gets colder.
